From doing this digipak analysis i found out the conventions of a pop genre digipak. The convention is that on the front cover there should be either a close-up or a mid-shot of the pop artist. The pop artists, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Avril Lavgine follow this convention well. Having the style of bright colours, whether it is the setting, props or text, really gives the connotation of a pop feel. Lady Gaga was the only pop genre digipak, from my digipak analysis, that didn't follow this convention and therefore broke it as her whole album 'The Fame Monster' was all in black and white. The back cover usually consists of a longshot of the pop artist on half the side while the other side has a list of the songs. This convention was not followed.
This research has been useful as now I will know what to include when I design my digipak. I will know what to do so that the pop genre is illustrated and the target audience is aimed. The convention of having the front cover being a close-up, back cover showing a long shot of the artists and the disk being simple but interesting will be followed when designing my digipak. As we are creating a digipak it is important to know the digipak codes and conventions.
